Bookstore History
Hod Gray and Lynn Jehle founded Gray’s Book Company in 1980, at 1821 Solano Ave in Berkeley California.
As they evolved, they specialized in resources for special needs, creating an extensive bibliography.
The storefront closed in 1989, but Hod continued to run the shop by mail.
Hod moved back to Santa Barbara and in 1999 he opened the Special Needs Project storefront, where his bibliography served as the roots for this extensive resource that supplies books and resources on disabilities.
The Special Needs Project continues their work today as a unique disability bookstore serving families, professionals, agencies, schools the general public with a collection of disability-related materials.
