The Bookworks

Founded in 1993 in South Lake Tahoe, Bookworks operates as an independent used and antiquarian bookshop run entirely by community volunteers to benefit the South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center (FRC). Situated in the Lakeview Plaza shopping center along Highway 50, the shop stocks a wide-ranging, rotating collection of donated titles spanning classic literature, local Sierra Nevada history, outdoor recreation, and rare vintage science fiction and paperbacks. Operating for over three decades, 100% of its proceeds go directly back into funding local family advocacy, bilingual education, and community assistance programs across the Lake Tahoe basin.
